Opinions Desired!

I am trying something out and am looking for opinions…

Starting with a photo like this one (pretty non-descript) I am looking for a specific detail, then crop and tinker…comments?!

This is a shot of the High Bridge is St Paul, MN. In the lower left corner is a little blue house...

    Zooming in on detail can be effective … sometimes. It depends on the detail. The detail has to be better than the whole. To be honest, in this particular case the whole is better than the crop. Is that too blunt?
