Jack comes over to say hi to the kitties after visiting Grampa Jim, my neighbor.
Breaking patterns, busting out, discovering wonderful things through others…
Monday evening was very special for our niece Tess. She is a basketball player in the Special Olympic and a huge fan of Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat. The Heat played the Minnesota Timberwolves, and through a series of family driven endeavors, Tess was court side during warm-ups and met Dwayne after the game.

As you may have noticed, my interest in photography runs the gamut of subject matter.
I really like the idea of portraits; photographing people posed, or simply doing what they do. Arjun Bagga recently posted a photograph that has so many interesting layers- color, artistry, social and political undertones- really quite amazing… http://arjunbagga.wordpress.com/2013/02/06/hello-guess-who/
I continue to experiment!
I love working with kids on photo projects. They are SO candid and utterly uninhibited. Poor teachers…I leave a trail of chaos behind me. Today I visited a small Catholic school in the neighborhood. The kids are working on a special project to support Fresh Grounds, a non-profit coffee-house and social venture that is a great place to hang out and is also a job training site for at-risk youth.
Here are a couple of my favs (oh, by the way- the Archdiocese is closing this school..too much money dontcha’ know. Of course they have lots of dollars for other battles, but I won’t sully the post with politics.) If anyone HAS a million to donate- that is what it will take to keep the school open, and these kindergarteners won’t be scattered about.
Relatives and neighbor kids have volunteered for portraits…so CUTE!!
Please check out Front Porch Studio on Facebook and ‘like’ it, if you feel so inclined. 🙂
Christmas Eve is the time when everyone gathers at Grandma’s house.
My partner and I are the instigators of the annual ‘gag gift’- this year, funny glasses and kazoos. I thought this grouping of nieces looked especially ‘cool’!
