Every year the MN State Fair Fine Arts competition presents a unique opportunity to be part of the Fair experience- and fail. LOL. It’s OK. Really. This year, I experimented with manual settings on the camera and black and white shots only- and submitted one of those photos. I have been inspired by the amazing work of Jef Bonifacino .
Here are some interesting stats from the 2017 competition: something like 2,025 entries were submitted from across all mediums and only 14% actually made it in to the exhibition! Yep. It’s a tough gig.
Anyway- here is my entry: “Ghost Flowers”- soon to be exhibited in my living room!!!
So, it’s like your photo could compete against … say a watercolor painting or a woodcarving? In that case, it’s an extraordinarily difficult competition. Or, is it photo against photo? One year, you’ll make it to the final. 🙂

There are 8 categories; so photo to photo, etc . There are some amazing photographers who are exhibited- I wasn’t surprised that I didn’t make it but continue to have fun with the process- and it encourages me to keep learning 😊
