The nieces and nephews are volunteering as portrait subjects. The three season porch has a portable heater and is now ‘the studio’. (I rearranged a bit-the kitties are miffed!)
My first ‘client’ was Tom. I asked that he bring a few props- hats, etc. He brought his departed grandpa’s hat…really like those shots. We also took some of the now infamous tattoo. (family dust-up…)

I am watching Episode 2 of the Swedish series, Mankells-Wallander. This is a bit of a problem because I am also writing- and editing photographs- and I have to keep glancing up at the screen to read captions. I am starting to pick up a few words (love Swedish movies…) but the occasional ‘yes’ and ‘thank you’ will not help me piece together the storyline…
I digress. The whole work from home/ freelance thing is very isolating. That is not to say I do not put myself out there. I am developing projects. Today I spent more time walking on W7th, one of the main streets running to and from downtown St. Paul. I stopped by Rat’s Nest Salon, W7th Tattoos, and The Beer Dabbler.
As luck would have it, Katie, who often models, was at the tattoo shop waiting for her boyfriend. Because I like to think of all of you as my co-workers, I will share a few shots from the day. As I may have mentioned, I am working on a photography project- Where I Live.
Just writing a bit about the day is useful- thank you bloggers! Hi Bowie!

What happens when an ordinary tree transforms? As I continue to explore, I look at photos I may have dismissed and wonder what they would look like with more cropping, visualizing, editing. Not for the purist I suppose…but an interesting exercise!
I also looked at a couple of shots that were complete mistakes- the camera was still set on timer and just went off- snapping random shots as I attempted to regain control. The following is one I saved, edited a bit, and entitled ‘Haiku’.
