A Best Friend

Gaile and I have been friends for over 40 years. She just got her Medicare card and I am in hot pursuit of mine…only one more year.

We met up today for lunch and a ramble around St. Paul, MN. We had not seen one another for almost two years. Covid and life… It was wonderful to share a meal and a long talk with the one person who knows everything; the person who shares memories of my parents, my siblings and the places of childhood…so far from this time and place.

  1. Isn’t it great having a truly lifelong friend? 🙂 🙂 🙂

Nancy and I have been friends since we were 14. We are BF/GF, but not in that sense. We are the closest of friends without being involved with each other, though people think we are long-time marrieds. We are married, but to other people. My wife Laurie refers to Nancy as “the girlfriend.” Nancy’s husband, Tom, refers to me as “the boyfriend.” (LOL)

Medicare Card, does that mean you’re ready to retire? Nancy reached that age in February. She said her and Tom can’t retire because they built their dream house 5 years ago. The mortgage and construction loan are still big money. Though I’ll be eligible in the fall, I’ll still be working away. (It’s the mortgage.)
